Remember remember, the 5th of November. Halloween has come and gone for another year, and we hope you enjoyed yourself, whatever you got up to (whether that be traditional pumpkin carving, tricking and treating, or one too many drinks in the Town!). No time to rest however, as another landmark event on the calendar is fast approaching...Bonfire Night 2018! Are you one of those people who like to get out and take in the spectacular sights of colours exploding into the night sky, a sparkler in one hand and a warm drink in the other? We've compiled a list of 3 places to go and see firework displays in the Newcastle/Gateshead area to make sure you have no excuse for missing out. Is your favourite missing from the list? Or perhaps you're already going to one of these events? Leave your favourite place to see the fantastic displays in the local area in the comments below! We'd love to hear your stories of Bonfire Nights gone by, and look forward to hearing tales of this years edition.

Saltwell Park Fireworks (3rd November 2018)

We're starting off with one of the most popular and jaw dropping firework displays in the North East, with this spectacle taking place in Gateshead's Saltwell Park! This event is occuring on the 3rd November from 17:00 to 21:00, with a major display taking place at 19:30, this spectacular event sees Saltwell Park, an already beautiful and picturesque setting, taken over by a roaring Bonfire, Food & Drink vendors galore, fun filled fairground rides for the little ones, a special appearance from the one and only Metrognomes, and of course, the main attraction of the firework extravaganza, all of which are sure to warm spirits on what is sure to be a bitterly cold night (don't let that put you off though!). Tickets are available right now for only £3, it's all set to be a party atmosphere in the Heed, and reviews from previous years have always been glowing.

There will be no public parking at the event unfortunately, however, it's easy to get to Saltwell Park, with plenty of bus services in operation from Newcastle, such as the 21 service from Eldon Square, which will drop you off a 10 minute walk from the park. There's also a special service in place, known as the F1, which will depart from the Gateshead Interchange at regular intervals.

Not convinced? Take a look at The Chronicle's 2017 recap of the event, and take a gander at some pictures and reviews from people who were present!

Before taking the trip over the Tyne to head into Gateshead for a fun filled night, why not take a pit stop at Dala Swedish Cafe, and grab a Sandwich & Coffee for 34% off!

Featuring live music too, there's plenty of reason for you to head down to the coast, and dance and sing the night away with fellow revellers, all the while taking in some of the best firework displays you'll ever see! Doors open at 17:00, with the first display taking place at 19:00, and there's plenty of Metro services and bus services active on the night, taking you to the coast. Tickets are still available to buy here, at £5.50 per adult, and only £2.50 per child.

There are also plenty of parking spaces available in the vicinity of the Cricket Club, with the closest being found at Upper Camden Street. The nearest Metro Stations to the cricket club are the North Shields station and the Tynemouth station, both roughly a 15 minute walk, and the 306 service from Newcastle goes through the area as well, for those who don't fancy a trip on the Metro.

Organisers have promised that this years event will be bigger, better and more explosive (quite literally) than ever before!

Getting to Ouseburn is no hassle at all. Located a 15 minute walk from Manors Metro Station, and at only a 20 minute walk from Monument in the heart of Newcastle, wrap up warm and enjoy a brisk walk down to the event staging grounds.
